Every year in the desert of Indio California there is an eclectic gathering of music lovers for the three day party known as Coachella. While I did completely geek out on all the amazing music and seizure inducing stage design, that is not what I am here to talk about.

Anyone who knows me can tell you I am an avid people watcher. I love to interact with wide varieties of people and sometimes throw out an odd subject to see how they respond. Here are a few stories and observations from my weekend amongst the future of our country (and yes in a lot of cases I shutter to say that). Continue reading “PEOPLE WATCHING COACHELLA STYLE” »

There is a distinct honor that comes with serving in the armed forces. It is hard not to be extremely proud of the service that our soldiers have provided in defense of our great nation. Freedom isn’t free! is a popular bumper sticker that captures this sentiment. Undoubtedly the majority of Americans would say that our country is much better off thanks to their sacrifice and devotion. It is true. We are a brave and loyal, yet sometimes misguided nation.

Chances are, those who think freedom only comes from the barrel of a gun are also the ones to pass the buck on every other issue by saying “I’m just one person. What can I do?”

Must our freedom only be payed for in the currency of bombs and blood though? This is a high price to pay, and it seems the ante is always going up. What if, instead the sticker read Freedom isn’t free, but it’s cheaper than you’d think?

In observance of President’s Day I would like to share with you this little bit of fried gold from historian Thomas E. Wood Jr.

It is truly baffling the unquestioning reverence, deification even, of our various Federal Executives. The sentiment hearkens back to the blind admiration of Kings and Queens by their downtrodden subjects. Like little girls idolizing fictional Disney princesses. In reality these leaders have done little for us. And if you believe they have you are applying an undue anointment, bordering on dictatorship to this select group of human beings. Think of it this way. The Executive is only one of three branches of Government. But do we have a Congress Day or a Judicial Day? These institutions have as much, if not more influence on change (positive and negative) as any president. So why should we bare such regard for a single figure of authority?

I like my comparison to royalty. However I think Tom Woods’ Wal-Mart metaphor more precisely describes this delusion. Take it away Tom…

Side note: That is why I like Ron Paul. Because he would use his appointment as President to reign in the out of control powers of all three branches of Government. Not perpetuate, and certainly not expand them. That is a leader worthy of praise.

On February 14th the Fox Business channel aired more truth in just under five minutes, than they have in the Fox network’s entire history. No it wasn’t a Valentines Day gift to their adoring viewers. It was the closing statement from their token libertarian’s final show. Judge Napolitano of Freedom Watch held nothing back when proclaiming the real state of modern politics.

The themes he covered could be the manifesto for the newly emerging “TransPartisan” paradigm. The Freedom Movement, as some call it, can be described as the disassociation from the established lesser-of-two-evils system of political railroading. In every case our current system leads to larger government, more debt, and fewer individual liberties. The transpartisans, as I like to call them are the growing segment of the citizenry who aren’t afraid to ask difficult questions, dig through layers of bullshit and lies, and demand their independence back.

This is the message I fight to disseminate every single day. Judge Nap just so happened to precisely and eloquently diagnose this American political dysfunction in a way that can only be described as “going out with a bang”.

Some may ask, with such a radically pro-freedom message how the Judge stayed on FAUX as long as he did? I ask, how did they give him a show in the first place? Either way, he is anticipated to have a long and successful career in the alternative media for some time to come.

We love you, and we welcome you with open arms Judge!

Yes this image has been posted without consent of the rights holder. But I doubt they'd care.

If you are reading this it’s not January 18th. That’s because this site and thousands of others will be participating in a massive one day online protest to educate people about one of the most dangerous bills to be considered in the halls of Congress. The Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA.

For my fellow WordPress users there is a great plugin that will allow you to join the fun. It’s called SOPA STRIKE, and for one day it will divert all traffic to SopaStrike.com as well as add your site to the list of bloggers and web masters who are joining the fight to save the internet.

On November 22nd, 1910 nearly one quarter of the worlds wealthiest financiers convened at Jeckyll Island, Georgia to develop what three short years later would become the Central Banking cartel known as the Federal Reserve. Since then this quasi corporate/governmental, or “Corporatist” organization has tightened it’s grasp on our economy and currency. This central meddling has since manifested depressions and recessions, and presided over a 98% collapse of the value of the U.S. Dollar.

98 years later to the day a movement was born and aimed its candle of illumination at the Fed for all to see. That movement is END THE FED. The year prior I had begun delving into principals of economics in the wake of the financial meltdown. My studies brought me to Austrian Economics, Ron Paul and the infamous Federal Reserve. With a thorough understanding, a passion for design and shit-ton of youthful zeal I jumped at the chance to take part in the Los Angeles END THE FED rally. I came armed with stacks of original Info Graphic flyers, and bold signs. The rallies took part nation wide, and have increased in size every year since.

This year is the 102nd anniversary of the beginning of the end, and it is quite the special occasion. Not because of any significant date, but due to the rise in another significant movement. Occupy Wall Street. While not all the occupiers yet agree with, or understand the END THE FED message, those who are given insight into the nature of the Fed’s inseparable complicity with the financial giants of Wall St. are beginning to come around.

For the 2011 rally Steven Vincent of EndTheFed.us and other organizers have assembled an exodus of occupiers from City Hall in Los Angeles to the local Federal Reserve branch to point the finger at the proverbial overlords of Wall St, corruption.

But what would an END THE FED rally be without materials to further educate the angered masses? And what better way than with an updated copy of the original info graphic flyer? If you plan on attending one of the many END THE FED rallies this Tuesday the 22nd, or would just like to educate yourself and others download the 2-sided graphic history of the Fed flyer for free. theTrepaNation.com’s sister site thePosterRevolution.com has a variety of educational offerings. The Poster Revolution is the place to download or submit your own Artivism flyers and posters. So check it out now. Download your materials, find your local rally and go occupy that Fed!

Word has it the Federal Reserve Bank of New York is working towards producing a social media spying program. The objective is to monitor Facebook, Twitter and blogs. No they are not looking for self-confirmation from Fed loving Cainiacs to boost their ego. They’re likely not even tapping the social-sphere for PR data. While they are a private bank, they are not a consumer bank. So they have no vested interest in opinions of the consumer. With the rise of Ron Paul and the End the Fed movement, as well as the Occupy Wall Street (and now the Occupy the Fed) protests practically knocking on their door, the Fed is scared, and rightfully so. A growing segment of the public has identified them as public enemy number one. So the fed is on the look out for those who seek to destroy its money monopoly.

There really is no need for the Fed to take a subversive route to learn what we think of them. Most of their critics gladly espouse their views out in the open like heartbroken lovers broadcasting their trials and tribulations to their Facebook friends. I for one have nothing to hide, and that’s why they have everything to fear.

So in light of their recent endeavors I would like to offer up my beef with the Fed. While images of storming their marble halls, imprisoning banksters and shouting “off with their heads” has a certain classically romantic appeal, I don’t think we have to go all French Revolution on them. Instead I would like to think of the matter as a toxic relationship which we have begrudgingly stayed in out of various, granted poorly justified reasons. Naïvety, insecurity, ignorance, even complacency. But the writing is on the wall. My facebook wall that is. It’s message is, it’s time we go our separate ways.

    Dear “Federal” Reserve Bank,

We have had a long and sorted relationship, you and I. I have put in so much of my time, money and effort but have received very little in return. At first your appeal was very attractive. You offered me stability I thought I needed, and I thought you could provide. But then you started asking more of me. You assured me that if I gave up a portion of my income I would have a better quality of life, but all I did was make less money. You promised that if I relinquished control of the household finances that we would be more prosperous. Instead our debt is enormous and what money we do have is worth 98% of what it was when we met. What is worse, while I was scraping to make ends meet you’ve continuously loaned my money to your banker buddies with gambling problems, all because they made some really bad bets.

Now, I’m convinced you are involved in some really shady dealings. I’ve seen you cavorting with other foreign banks. I have overheard your back room deals with the military-industrial mafia to help fund their turf wars. All the while I’ve listened to that infernal printer going into all hours of the night. And you have the nerve to stick me with the ink and paper costs! You’re so damn secretive I don’t know whats going on for sure. All I can do is look at my dwindling bank account, watch my crashing credit score, and look back on the days when I was in control. Yes I made mistakes then, but they were my mistakes, and nobody, I mean NOBODY was playing me for a fool!

I have always wanted to say this, so here we are… It’s not you, it’s me. I have wised up to your games. While you still think I’m stupid enough to fall for them. Well guess again.

The truth is you are a cold hearted bitch who only thinks of your self and your elite circle. So suffice it to say, I think it is time we start seeing other currencies. I know what you’ll say. With that condescending tone “Where are you going to go? With Gold? She’s so old and jingly, who would want her?”. Well, maybe! She’s been hot shit for thousands of years! “Local currencies? Good luck finding anybody to accept those pariahs!” you say. But you know, at least I know what they’re worth unlike someone I know!

There are plenty of fiscally responsible options in the sea. So don’t worry about me. I’ll be just fine. You on the other hand. I would say your days are numbered. With the debt you’ve racked up it’s unlikely anybody will take you in. But then again, thats karma. She’s a bitch too, maybe you’ll get along.

    Truly no longer yours,

    The American People.

We’ll Fed, now you know where I stand. So what are you going to do about it? I suggest you stop worrying about us “End the Fed’ers” and just pray your old friend Ron Paul’s bill H.R. 1098, the “Free Competition in Currency Act of 2011″ doesn’t pass. Because that surely would mean the breakup of the century.

Spread the word! If you like this post and want to see an end to the Fed, switch your Facebook relationship status to “It’s Complicated” and post the breakup letter contained in this article along with a link to the full text. That will be sure to open some eyes.

I had a thought… Imagine if the Republican establishment and those in favor of our many wars in the name of “stamping out terrorism” are correct about the motives of said terrorists. Imaging it has nothing to do with our decades of interventionist foreign policy of bombing some countries and propping up dictators in others.

The truth, in this exercise is that they hate us because we are a free and prosperous society. We are everything that goes against their fundamental Muslim jihadist ideal. That they want us to be financially wrecked, rather than wealthy. They want us oppressed rather than free. They want us afraid rather than at ease. Imagine that they want us dead.

Now. Stop imagining and look at our country.

We are for all intents-and-purposes bankrupt. We are over extending ourselves in multiple wars and bloated bureaucracies at home. For which we must print money to maintain, all the while devaluing our money and setting the stage for the most devastating attack on Americans. Hyperinflation. We are authorizing federal “agents” to invade our privacy in airports, online, and numerous other ways in our daily lives. We are allowing our media and agencies to propagate constant fear and manufacture threat. Most unfortunately, we are sending our troops to be targeted for death on multiple fronts. To engage unidentifiable enemies, in countless open-ended and strategically ambiguous military actions. On their home court.

If they are right, and the anti-war movement is wrong. Aren’t the terrorist getting precisely what they are aiming to achieve?

After all, the true damages which come from terrorism are not the loss of life in individual attacks. The wound is inflicted when the government and the nations people react just as we have over the past decade. As a drunken belligerent fool swinging wildly at shadows, exhausting every last bit of our energy and even hitting ourselves in the process.

Maybe it’s time to sober up, head home and get our house in order?

Another Ron Paul post? I know, I know. It’s not as if theTrepaNation.com isn’t trying to become the “Ron Paul News Network”. But when such a vast amount of people obviously don’t understand simple cause-and-effect, posts like this become necessary. What I am referring to is the reaction of the crowd, as well as what I witnessed on twitter, following Dr. Paul’s foreign policy discussion with Rick Santorum during the CNN Tea Party debate in Florida. His reasonable and educated response garnered some audible boos and scathing tweets, like this one by someone who shall go unnamed saying “What a vile old man!”

If you missed it, here is a clip of the discourse in question.

If you understand what Paul is saying here, then good for you! You have been able to think and function independently of the main stream media. If you don’t understand or are even offended by this, I present to you a short list of links simply designed to challenge your view on the subject. Just like when Dr. Paul offered a recommended reading list to Rudy Giuliani following a similar instance during a 2008 presidential debate. Which just so happens to make number one on our list.

    1. Educating Giuliani ← 1,2… actually 3 videos should cover it
    2. Recommended Reading (not only for Rudy):

    3. The famous “What if?” and “Imagine” speeches, by Ron Paul ← dynamic kinetic type videos
    4. Ron Paul’s Foreign Policy Would Make America More Safe ← article by Jack Hunter
    5. Why They Hate Us ← article by Laurence M. Vance

That’s it for your homework assignment class. Please review the materials carefully and prepare an internal discussion to be presented asap to your conditioned subconscious.

Despite what the mainstream media may want you to believe Dr. Paul’s message of small Government and maximum personal liberty is finally resonating with a growing majority of the general public. In the Ames, Iowa debate his knowledge and positions on foreign policy, the economy and monetary policy continued to differentiate himself from all the other Republican candidates who seem to serve only the maintenance of the status quo. That consistent message in opposition to establishment republicans landed him a second place victory at the Ames straw poll, within a hair’s breadth (9/10 of a percent to be exact) of Michele Bachmann’s lead. However, in the area which most effects the common American, namely the job market, he has some aces up his sleeve which could help see him through to the final table in the presidential tournament.

In true “Dr. No” fashion, Ron Paul said to a crowd gathered to hear him speak along his Iowa campaign: “Presidents can’t create jobs. Government can’t create jobs. All they can do is create bureaucrats that interfere with your ability to create jobs,”. Texas Governor Rick Perry has said the same. Although, in comparison with other former governors in the race, Perry is not exactly the one to prove that point. Former New Mexico, and 2012 Presidential Candidate Governor Gary Johnson holds the best record for job growth in their respective states at 11.6% to Perry’s 7.2%. It might also be fair to mention that Johnson has seen surpluses in state revenue while Perry has only pushed Texas towards mountains of debt, and an increase state government jobs. So when Gary Johnson wrote in a statement on this accomplishment “The fact is, I can unequivocally say that I did not create a single job while I was governor… We kept government in check, the budget balanced, and the path to growth clear of unnecessary regulatory obstacles.” he alone proves Dr. Paul’s point.

With Labor Day having just passed and the August jobs report showing stagnant employment the topic of discussion at the Reagan Library debate on the 7th of September will likely be focused on job creation. I can only hope this article reaches Ron in time (but not holding my breath). That’s because now would be the time for Dr. Paul to begin touting his existing efforts in congress to get Americans back to work. One of his plans in particular would cost practically ZERO to implement.

Congressman Ron Paul is the lead sponsor of House Bill 1831 to legalize industrial hemp farming in the United States. If passed the economic effects could be enormous. The two most obvious effects being the hundreds of thousands of employment and entrepreneurial opportunities that would be created over night, as well as a reduction in prices of products utilizing imported hemp or products effected by our absence of a domestic hemp industry. Both are a win for the average tax burdened citizen.

    Economic Effect

In 1938 Popular Mechanics claimed there are over 25,000 different products which can be produced from hemp. It’s not just used to clothe the crunchiest of hippies. That number has surely grown since 1938 and indicates the economic viability of hemp. China is currently the worlds largest producer of industrial hemp at nearly 70% of the world supply, with France being the second largest providing 70-80% of hemp used in Europe. In fact, most industrialized nations allow hemp farming. Since we Americans can’t farm it, we are forced to import it.

De-regulating industrial hemp would unlock an entire industry currently vacant from the American economy. Because it grows so quickly, so easily and has the most bio-mass per square foot of just about any plant, nearly anybody can grow it. What better way to reinvigorate the economy than by giving back one the worlds oldest natural resources to the people. The exact impact remains to be seen, but the sky is the limit when this resource can be used to produce everything from plastic, bio-fuel, paper, fiber board, to textiles, cosmetics and highly nutritious foods.

Thomas Jefferson knew what was up when he said “Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country.”

    Consumer Prices

As we have established, hemp is versatile. Solely looking at its potential as bio-fuel it is apparent that it would have a profound effect on our economy. Our oil prices are dependent on the Middle East. Conflicts erupt, oil prices soar. In the early 1930′s, a time when domestic oil production was at its peak, a gallon of gas cost 10¢. Adjusting 10¢/gal for inflation, domestic made gasoline could cost as little as $1.35 per gallon today. The beautiful part is the entirety of it’s production would be handled by Americans in every step of production. Hemp could become a source of supplemental or even primary income for privately owned farms of every size. Its economic benefit would then be seen along the journey towards the production of countless everyday products, in some cases offsetting imported commodities such as oil and lumber.

    Side-note from the Author:

There… I just solved in a few minutes what the Department of Energy has been incapable of doing since 1977. End our dependence on foreign oil. Ok I simplify, but it raises a good point.

    Catastrophe Insurance

Another lesser discussed benefit of a prosperous American hemp farming industry is a form of social safety net. The level of self sufficiency has declined greatly since the great depression. The fact that the country was more rural and agricultural than it was urban in the 20′s and 30′s allowed a bit of a cushion for some families to survive while countless others starved. If presented with economic depression (far-fetched I know) or famine, a thriving hemp industry could be diverted to feeding the needy. As a matter of fact, in the 1800′s Australians survived two prolonged famines by eating virtually nothing but hemp seed and leaves. To that point, another tidbit of forgotten knowledge is that the medieval staple and surprisingly nutritious dish fondly known as “gruel” was made from hemp.

From this perspective we could free much of our corn production from biofuels by replacing it with hemp and still have a surplus of both to address worldwide famine. Dare I dream?

    Greater Understanding and Compassion

The final and less tangible benefit of legalizing hemp farming is the continued chipping away at the myth that hemp and cannabis are one in the same. As Ron Paul has said on many occasions “You would have to smoke a joint the size of a phone pole to get high on hemp.”

The taboo on marijuana has been receding over the years, and the passage of HR 1831 will only further educate the public as to the differences between the two. This rediscovered understanding of the marijuana issue could, in an ideal world, lead to full legalization of this black market and criminal cartel boosting drug. The result would be reduced government spending by way of decreased enforcement and prison size, as wells as by taking the number one cash crop away from the mexican drug cartels, minimizing or even ending our costly and ineffective war on drugs.

And now for something completely different

Meanwhile, the “Top Tier” candidate, Mrs. Bachmann would allow her evangelical fervor and sought power to prohibit a massive, albeit controversial industry. Pornography. Regardless of your patronage to or disgust toward pornography there is no doubt that it is a huge industry made up of countless workers and enormous capital flow. In the United States alone this industry produces $13 billion a year in revenues. There is simply no denying an industry that large has a positive effect on the U.S. economy, and if prohibited we would see an immediate spike in unemployment. The only industries the prohibition of porn would serve to invigorate is lawyers and prisons. Arguably two industries most in need of downsizing.

Putting the economic effects of such a regulation aside, the Constitution does not even give the Federal Government the authority to legislate morality. The legislation of morality, boys and girls, is a hallmark of big government establishment types, which I am sorry to tell you Tea Partiers, Mrs. Bachmann is one of.

This also begs the question, what would such penalties look like under a porn-free society? Is it reasonable that anyone caught producing, distributing or watching pornography be labeled a sex-offender? If that’s the charge, I would assert that the punishment far outweighs the crime.

So here we have Ron Paul, a legitimate front runner for the Republican nomination in a race where most candidates could handily beat Obama. The question is would you support more superfluous regulation, economy be damned? Or less regulation, sparking up (no pun intended) a whole new resource for the generation of domestic wealth?
