Things are about to get shaken up here at theTrepaNation.com. Are you ready?
“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.” – Albert Camus
This quote by the early 20th century French-Algerian journalist and philosopher has burrowed its way into my mind over the past few weeks. Like a motivational virus taking control of my motor and cognitive functions, I am beginning to feel the symptoms of the infection.
I have heard the quote many times before. Each time conjuring up romantic ideas of living an unconventional life guided by strong conviction. However, would it require being so unconventional one would ultimately ostracize themselves from society? How could someone like me, painfully aware of the ills of the world, so completely opt-out of the conventional stream of thought and action? The scope of undertaking this lifestyle was so extreme and idealist I lamented, that any practical application surely could not with fit in the standard confines of the life of a westerner. Each time I read it though, the bite of the unattainable became softer and softer.
Though extreme it may sound “to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion”… Isn’t it far more extreme to be an unwitting slave to the political-industrial complex? To not take full responsibility for the financial, physical and psychological well-being of ourselves and our families? To play into, and pay into the sick-care system? Isn’t it far more extreme to perpetuate the destructive habits that keep we-the-oblivious in what can only be described as “the rat race”? With no sign of an exit and the cheese always just around the next corner.
Once I began looking at all the areas in which my biggest political and societal gripes intersected with my life choices, I realized I was already nearing the half way mark of finding absolute freedom. I am so close now, why not go all the way?
The title of this site, eluding to an open minded and aware way of life would be disingenuous if I were not actively cultivating absolute freedom in my day to day life. Changes must be made, and theTrepaNation.com will chronicle my thoughts and experiences on my path towards shaping a fully conscious and free existance. This site will become the chalk board on which I calculate and quantify my experiments in the pursuit of discovering the formula for absolute freedom in modern America.
How it will manifest itself on the digital stage, who knows? Just stay tuned…
