As part of my mission at this year’s Freedom Fest in Las Vegas I set out to get various perspectives on where the Liberty Movement is headed. The one and only video interview I managed to secure just so happened to be with a figure in the movement who has been a personal inspiration of mine. Stefan Molyneux, the prolific video blogger at FreeDomainRadio.com.

Coming from the Voluntarist (anarchist) camp of the libertarian philosophy, his views don’t necessarily reflect that of the movement as a whole. But what he does present is a clear and logical description of the path forward from a non-political, but rather a purely individualist philosophy.

I hope you’ll listen to this insightful interview. Then please feel free to comment, and subscribe to my YouTube channel, theTrepaNationTV. Then don’t forget to subscribe to Stefan’s channel as well. Enjoy!

There is breaking news out of the District of Criminals today. The House of Representatives has voted to pass H.R.459; Ron Paul’s bill to perform a full audit of the private Federal Reserve Bank. A task the Fed has avoided for all of its 99 years in existence. See… even incompetent control freaks can be conscripted to do the right thing some times.

The house needed to pass the bill with a 2/3rds majority which they handily accomplished with a final vote of 327 Yeas to 98 Nays. Not only is this a great victory for Ron Paul, (who if not nominated for the Republican Presidential candidacy will retire from office) but it’s a victory for the Freedom Movement as a whole. What it shows is that we have been successful in injecting real issues into the political discourse. It just so happens the Republican party with whom the father and son Paul team subscribe, has taken our plea to heart. This is evident from the parties nearly unanimous vote in favor of Fed transparency. The one Republican who cast a Nay, New York Congressman Bob Turner will likely be regretting his decision come time for his re-election. (Check out the full list of how your representatives voted on the bill.)

Not surprising was that more than half of Democrats voted in opposition to opening the Federal Reserves books to scrutiny. Given the fact that to “liberally” apply government to every last detail of our lives requires an infinite supply of funny money, it’s not as if they’re expected to shut off the spigot for big Government.

This battle may have been won but the war rages on. The next hurdle in our race to take the country back from the corporatist elite apparatus is the Senate vote on H.R.459′s companion bill, S.202. If Harry Reid had it his way the Senate wouldn’t vote on the bill at all. That’s precisely why we all need to call our Senators and urge them to rip take the veil of secrecy off the private central bank. With a victory on both fronts the ultimate goal of ending the Federal Reserve’s destructive money monopoly will be more attainable than ever.

Last week I attended the 2012 Freedom Fest in Las Vegas Nevada. It was a truly epic experience. Never before have I got the chance to meet so many of my intellectual heroes. Ok, well maybe at last years Freedom Fest, but 2012 seriously one-upped Freedom Fest 2011. One of the highlights was meeting the Voluntaryist philosopher and host of FreeDomainRadio.com, Stefan Molyneux. I was honored to get the chance to interview him for theTrepaNation.com which will be online for your viewing pleasure very soon.

With that opportunity came more. I filmed an interview between Stafan and my friend and Freedom Fest Speaker Michelle Liberman. Then I was asked by Stefan to assist filming two more interviews for FreeDomainRadio.com, including a great talk with Jeffrey Tucker of Laissez Faire Books… To which I graciously accepted!

Since the video blog veteran beat me to the punch uploading the interview I thought I’d share it here. This as a perfect indicator of the kinds of intellectual conversations you will find flying around the annual Mecca of free-thinkers.

Be sure to watch it to the very end to catch a cameo of yours truly!

Stay tuned for more coverage of Freedom Fest 2012!

Independence is a concept that is woven into the fabric of American culture. Historically we have been a rough and resilient bunch. These days however, our independence is being sold out to the highest bidder or kleptoed in the dark of night by politicians playing off the anxieties of the public. In a few short years any thread of independence we thought we had will have been shredded and replaced with the puppet strings of a wholly controlled society.

If you were out in observance of independence day (like I was in Newport beach) one would think that we were celebrating a feature that is still alive and well. But just because you drink yourself silly and wear red, white and blue doesn’t make it so. That’s why this year I am putting my independence to work before it is an NDAA-able offense.

Step 1. Get off the grid. If only for a few days, and gain some clarity.

Step 2. Plug into the movement that’s working to preserve our freedom and see where the momentum is carrying it. Then get behind it and push.

    Here is how that’s going.

Last Wednesday President Obama made a bold campaign move by supporting same-sex marriage. Much like other statements from the election of yore, his rhetoric is surely meant more for bolstering his appeal to specific demographics, in this case the youth and gay vote, than an indication of his intention to enact the “change” he vocally supports. While liberals and social libertarians undoubtedly applaud the tolerant position (your author included) it’s dangerous for anyone to assume he should have the power to legalize such personal interactions.

By the influx of over one million dollars in donations within 90 minutes of the announcement, and his well timed new line of LGBT Pride swag it looks like Obama is banking on the public making precisely this assumption. Granted he did (to my utter surprise) admit it is an issue that should be left to the states, you can bet your bottom dollar (not referring to the mode of payment for male strippers) that his constituency either: A. Tuned out during their prostration to herr Obama, or B. Has no idea what that even means…

All according to plan! [insert diabolical laugh here] Continue reading “the SAME-SEX SETUP” »

Every year in the desert of Indio California there is an eclectic gathering of music lovers for the three day party known as Coachella. While I did completely geek out on all the amazing music and seizure inducing stage design, that is not what I am here to talk about.

Anyone who knows me can tell you I am an avid people watcher. I love to interact with wide varieties of people and sometimes throw out an odd subject to see how they respond. Here are a few stories and observations from my weekend amongst the future of our country (and yes in a lot of cases I shutter to say that). Continue reading “PEOPLE WATCHING COACHELLA STYLE” »

Let me start off the first Individual Liberty Journal entry in over a month with an onomatopoeia describing my current state of mind… “Sheesh!”

Mother said there would be days like this. But she never said anything about a whole month! When running the perpetual wheel within the rat-race construct, there are times when the wheel inexplicably outpaces the rhythm of your step. One small misstep and you find yourself tumbling, wondering which side is up. This was one of those months constricted by a tight budget (thanks to the rising cost of gas and other essentials), long hours manning the cubicle (demotivated by ever diminishing returns) and more events, engagements and obligations to juggle than I have phalanges to grip them with.

However, in every tumble there is a lesson. Here is what I learned this month:

There is a distinct honor that comes with serving in the armed forces. It is hard not to be extremely proud of the service that our soldiers have provided in defense of our great nation. Freedom isn’t free! is a popular bumper sticker that captures this sentiment. Undoubtedly the majority of Americans would say that our country is much better off thanks to their sacrifice and devotion. It is true. We are a brave and loyal, yet sometimes misguided nation.

Chances are, those who think freedom only comes from the barrel of a gun are also the ones to pass the buck on every other issue by saying “I’m just one person. What can I do?”

Must our freedom only be payed for in the currency of bombs and blood though? This is a high price to pay, and it seems the ante is always going up. What if, instead the sticker read Freedom isn’t free, but it’s cheaper than you’d think?

In observance of President’s Day I would like to share with you this little bit of fried gold from historian Thomas E. Wood Jr.

It is truly baffling the unquestioning reverence, deification even, of our various Federal Executives. The sentiment hearkens back to the blind admiration of Kings and Queens by their downtrodden subjects. Like little girls idolizing fictional Disney princesses. In reality these leaders have done little for us. And if you believe they have you are applying an undue anointment, bordering on dictatorship to this select group of human beings. Think of it this way. The Executive is only one of three branches of Government. But do we have a Congress Day or a Judicial Day? These institutions have as much, if not more influence on change (positive and negative) as any president. So why should we bare such regard for a single figure of authority?

I like my comparison to royalty. However I think Tom Woods’ Wal-Mart metaphor more precisely describes this delusion. Take it away Tom…

Side note: That is why I like Ron Paul. Because he would use his appointment as President to reign in the out of control powers of all three branches of Government. Not perpetuate, and certainly not expand them. That is a leader worthy of praise.

On February 14th the Fox Business channel aired more truth in just under five minutes, than they have in the Fox network’s entire history. No it wasn’t a Valentines Day gift to their adoring viewers. It was the closing statement from their token libertarian’s final show. Judge Napolitano of Freedom Watch held nothing back when proclaiming the real state of modern politics.

The themes he covered could be the manifesto for the newly emerging “TransPartisan” paradigm. The Freedom Movement, as some call it, can be described as the disassociation from the established lesser-of-two-evils system of political railroading. In every case our current system leads to larger government, more debt, and fewer individual liberties. The transpartisans, as I like to call them are the growing segment of the citizenry who aren’t afraid to ask difficult questions, dig through layers of bullshit and lies, and demand their independence back.

This is the message I fight to disseminate every single day. Judge Nap just so happened to precisely and eloquently diagnose this American political dysfunction in a way that can only be described as “going out with a bang”.

Some may ask, with such a radically pro-freedom message how the Judge stayed on FAUX as long as he did? I ask, how did they give him a show in the first place? Either way, he is anticipated to have a long and successful career in the alternative media for some time to come.

We love you, and we welcome you with open arms Judge!
